Branding the contemporary fringe
What is contemporary fringe of art & design? What does it look like? How does it feel? How does it move? How is it experienced?
The work happening right now, on the (metaphorical) edge of graphic design and visual arts, is a bit of a fickle concept to grasp. It is in flux. It expects a lot out of its audience – often in the form of direct bodily interaction, or by means of appropriation and other outlets we have come to associate with the re-culture of postproduction). It plays with time and space in new ways and through new materials.
